Acrylic board (PMMA) production process and classification

4. Classified according to the material, the main points in China: import board, Taiwan-funded board, domestic board. Their difference is the origin and (mma) purity of the raw materials employed. This is also the key to determining the quality and price of the sheet.

The acrylic boards imported in China have Japanese Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi Chemicals) and Germany's German Deguri. The so-called Tai-ranking board refers to a plate that uses British Cell (MMA) pure raw materials and Taiwan's technology, process. Most of the mold producing plates is used in the UK and Germany. The domestic board refers to a domestic product, and the other is the secondary processing of the recovery of various acrylic plates.

Past plate characteristics

The molecular weight of the cast plate is higher, more rigid, crack, and excellent chemical properties, which is more suitable for machining large-sized identification plaques. In addition, the casting process is more suitable for producing a small batch of different colors, and there is a possible flexibility in the color system and surface texture effect, and the product specifications are complete, practical for a variety of special purposes.

The thickness tolerance of the cast plate is generally within ± 0.30 mm.

Extruder characteristics

The molecular weight of the extrudate is low, the flexibility is high, suitable for vacuum blistering, and the extrusion process can better control the thickness of the sheet, and the thickness tolerance is smaller than the cast plate. Since the extruded panel is a large amount of automation, the color and specification are not adjusted, the product specification diversity is subject to certain restrictions. Since the polymer molecular weight, mechanical properties, heat resistance, solvent resistance are not as good as the molded profile, which is the advantage of high production efficiency.

Acrylic board specifications and thickness

Specifications: 1220 * 2440mm, 1220 * 1830mm, 1250 * 2500mm, 2000 * 3000mm.

Thickness: 0.5mm-50mm, the thickness of the cast plate is typically only 2.0 mm or more, and the thickness of the extrudate can be 0.5mm, and even 0.3 mm can be achieved.
